About Certificate III Courses

NSPI offers training and assessment in two Certificate III courses:
30556QLD Swimming Pool and Spa Construction, Installation and Maintenance
and
30663QLD Swimming Pool and Spa Water Maintenance Technology.
Certificate III qualifications are recognised Australia-wide and throughout the Pacific Rim. Certificate III courses are developed under the Australian Qualifications Framework so they are government accredited and nationally recognised. Certificate IIIs recognise skills and knowledge that meet nationally endorsed industry/enterprise competency standards as agreed for those qualifications by the relevant industry, enterprise, community or professional group.
Trainees undertaking NSPI Certificate III courses need functional literacy and numeracy skills because the courses are delivered and assessed via correspondence.
Trainees must have access to an on-the-job supervisor/mentor for each unit being assessed by NSPI and, as a guide, a minimum of two years experience in the swimming pool and spa industry to be able to provide sufficient evidence for Recognition of Prior Learning.
Once your enrolment form is returned to NSPI and the fee has been paid, you are sent a Trainee Assessment Checklist.
The Checklist asks you to provide evidence regarding your level of competence in the units required to complete your chosen course.
To start your skills assessment process, return to NSPI your completed Trainee Assessment Checklist, providing as much evidence as you can of your experience in the units listed in it.
Your evidence must satisfy an assessor that it is authentic, valid, reliable, current and sufficient. It may include photographs of work, industry memberships, references, working documents, industry achievements and records of previous studies.
Upon receipt of your completed Checklist, an NSPI Assessor matches your skills to the prescribed skill levels required for the selected credential. At this point your assessor will contact you to request a written or oral interview, request further documentation or arrange for a site visit.
Certificate III training and assessment requires on-site validation of skills and knowledge. This means an assessor will visit you at your workplace to observe you doing key elements of your job to validate your practical experience and underpinning skills and knowledge.
NSPI provides Gap Training if you are assessed as "Not Yet Competent" in any of the required units. When Gap Training is required the materials sent to you are designed by NSPI specifically for distance learning and contain learning materials and written assessments.
On successful completion of all requirements, you are issued with a nationally recognised Certificate III Qualification, or, a Statement of Attainment for the partial completion of the qualification. This assessment and training is provided under auspice agreement with Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Training Australia Unlimited (30801). All Certificate III Qualifications (Complete or Partial) are issued by this RTO, and include a list of the units of competencies achieved.
Please note that NSPI is NOT a licensing or regulatory body. If you have any questions regarding licensing requirements phone the QBSA on 1300 272 272 or your State Licensing Body if outside Queensland.
